Saturday night

Almost Saturday at last! I'm speaking at a Fairtrade event - almost a year since this city became the world's first southern hemisphere Fairtrade Capital! The ethical basis for Fairtrade is a great example of how consumption and economic forces can either be anti-people and anti-environment or supportive within clear limits.

Will enjoy a good Fairtrade coffee before I leave home - it could be a long day!

If it's the morning and you suddenly spy those voting papers, run to your nearest library before 12 noon!

If you've helped our campaign and missed your invitation or we missed noting your help, please come along to FINC cafe, 122 Wakefield St., from 7 to 9 Saturday night. We're providing some drinks and finger food for those who have helped with the campaign. And yes, FINC's Fairtrade!

If you're just interested or supportive but didn't quite get around to leafletting or having a cottage meeting or having a billboard, you're still welcome - but maybe bring a modest donation!

... and there is a ramp available for access. We expect to know the results (announced over the road in the Council foyer) about 8 p.m. and I will twitter it!

Certainly could go either way from what I've heard. I really hope I'm elected to help move transport, technology and community support in more sustainable ways but no-one yet knows the mind of the 40% of Wellingtonians who've voted!

If not, I'll enjoy the garden, kayaking, volunteer reveg projects and a new career will beckon.
