Team effort for cycling and walking in Tawa
In June 2009 Andy Foster and I moved an amendment to increase the walking and cycling budget for strategic routes. The majority of councillors, including teh Northern Ward councillors, agreed. After considerable work by the Tawa community and our staff and negotiations with the NZ Transport Agency, we can confirm there will be central government subsidy for the Tawa/Porirua walk/cycleway.
Other strategic routes include Tawa to Johnsonville, Johnsonville to Ngauranga, The Great Harbour Way and the South Coast to city. Other roads and paths are also important to cyclists and walkers of course and may have modest speed and/or physical improvements over time.

This photo illustrates how we can work together as a team and that achievements do not rest on one person's shoulders alone!
